Our Livestock

On Moelgolomen we farm Welsh Black cattle and Welsh Mountain Sheep.

These breeds of sheep and cows have been farmed in the welsh mountains for millennia so are perfectly adapted to living on the often harsh and uncompromising environment of the Cambrian mountains. They are also bred to survive on grazing alone without the reliance on extra concentrates that other breeds can require. Which is why all of our lambs are finished from forage alone – with no extra feed! This is what gives welsh mountain lamb it’s unique and unforgettable flavour. With the lambs having spent their happy lives grazing on the hill tops on heathers, herbs, bilberries and any other delicious flora they can get their teeth into!

Our sheep spend their entire lives outside on grass ensuring they are fit, fat and happy.
